Women In Golf

The original Normanton Golf Club was a nine hole course in Normanton, in1998 we moved to an eighteen hole course at Hatfeild Hall in Stanley Wakefield. We have a really friendly ladies’ section who enjoy a wide range of golfing and social events. Our main competition day is on a Sunday but we have competition and fun games on a Tuesday, we also play a Saturday competition alongside the men.

We have the same rights as other sections in the club, we book our own tee times and can play any day and time. We are made to feel part of the club and have the same opportunities. Ladies also have the opportunity to represent Normanton in inter-club matches which range from competitive to more social and friendly fixtures. This is a great way to make new friends and get the chance to experience playing other golf courses.

During the year we also hold fun competitions these sometimes include a mixed and juniors, we have away days, invitation days, open competitions and social/charity events.

New for 2020 – Women in Golf Charter
We are delighted to have signed up to be part of the R&A’s ‘Women in Golf’ Charter introduced by the R&A in May 2018. We are committed to creating and maintaining a more inclusive environment for women who want to join, play, volunteer and work at the club. Our golf club is a place we want members and visitors to feel welcome, regardless of age or gender.

The aim of the Charter is to develop a range of initiatives designed to encourage and inspire women and families to take part in golf activities. With this in mind, we are committed to launching a new programme in the coming year to ensure that women and girls’ participation and development sits firmly within the club’s strategic plan.
