Despite the inclement weather, Normanton Eggs hosted another successful Seniors Open Day. Out of 114 pairs, 108 pairs braved the rain and wind and completed their rounds. The eventual winner, with 47 points was our own John Brady with guest John Langford. (Full results available here)
A big thank you goes to Phil Javens for all his efforts in organizing and running this event. Also to all the committee members who helped on the day, with registration and starter duties. Our Club Captain and fellow Egg Brian Addy was on the registration desk from 7.00am and was seen at 8.00pm still checking handicaps. Thank you Brian.
Jenny and the team worked tirelessly from dawn to dusk, providing sandwiches, meals and beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic for hungry and thirsty golfers, many thanks.
Many thanks also to our Ladies Section who ran registration for us from 12-3 allowing some of us out on the course to play. In addition, they provide light refreshments at The Half Way House, which raised £200 for the Club Captain's chosen charities, The Alzheimer's Society and Prostate Cancer UK.
Praise to the Greens Director and his committee and Green Staff for presenting the course in a superb condition despite the weather.
Compliments came thick and fast throughout the day about the wonderful set up we have at Normanton Golf Club, mentioning a great clubhouse, impressive course and how friendly we all are.
A phrase used many times was ' A hidden gem
We can all be proud of our Club.
