John Flockton
Club Captain 2022/23

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who have not met or know me. I am immensely proud to be the 2022/23 club Captain of Normanton Golf Club at Hatfeild Hall in Wakefield.

I have been a player at this fabulous parkland course since 2004 and during that time it has developed into one of the best courses in Yorkshire, a hidden gem. We have a great club here at Normanton GC, which we should be proud of. We have some fantastic facilities and with the addition of the golf simulator, second to none in the area, giving a true test to golfers of all abilities. The green staff have worked tirelessly this last year on making improvements which can now be seen all over the course.

I started my golf as a junior at Temple Newsam golf course and know how important all the sections are to a golf club, they make up the family of a club. During my time at Normanton GC I have played in the Rabbits the Tigers and now since I retired the EGGS team. I love nothing better than representing Normanton GC and think it is a great way to improve your golf and make new friends.

As part of my Captain’s year I will continue with the 'Captain’s Trophy' charity 9 hole competition every Thursday, lasting all year. The winner on the day will receive £10 and the overall winner and runner up at the end of the year will receive a trophy and prize money. This will help support my chosen charity which is Versus Arthritis.

I wish good luck and happy golfing to our members, guests and visitors for this coming year, you will be assured a warm welcome, if you are looking to join a club, you could not find a better home than Normanton Golf Club.
