Rabbit & Tigers Open Saturday July 1st 2017.

Report, winners and Photos

On Saturday July 1st, NGC held their Rabbits &Tigers open day. We had 72 pairs of golfers from all over the local area and beyond, including Bury and even the North East to enjoy what was a fabulous day’s golf, once again blessed by great weather throughout.

The day started with the first tee at 7.50am whilst the last group went out a 2.20pm, and due to gaps factored in to help keep the pace of play up, a 4-hour 15 minute round ensued, more than acceptable for an open competition with all levels of golfers playing. The course was set fair with white tees being used for both the Rabbits, Tigers and mixed pairs competitions. Flags were generous but challenging at the same time.

The course was immaculate, particularly given the heavy rain we had leading up to the competition, all bunkers were in play, the greens were sticky and the fairways lush, great testament to our greens staff who had done a great job in getting the course in tip top condition. All who played the course came in with a glowing report, particularly those who were not members of NGC and who might have been playing it for the first time, a great advert for this ever-improving club. Well done all.

The weather and course conditions clearly played a part in the scores too, which was reflected in the better ball stableford scores that came in. As well as the Rabbits, Tigers and mixed Rabbit & Tiger competitions we also had Nearest Pins and Longest Drives for both sections too.

I’d like to thank all concerned with getting this great day on, Gary and Scott for helping with the prizes, twos club balls and welcoming our guests, Mike and his staff for serving us throughout the day both upstairs and in the Half Way House, and all those in both the Rabbit and Tigers sections who spent most of the day at the beck and call of those who played. Simon, Paul, Alan, Chris…. thank you.

My final thanks goes to Brian Addy, our esteemed Captain, who duly returned to the club to present the prizes to those luckily enough to have been in the top 4 of each section. Mr Captain, thank you.
